Search Engine Optimisation Basics

[ad_1]

The best and lowest cost method of driving traffic to your website is by search engine optimisation or SEO for short. If you can properly search engine optimise your website for your keywords you can make a good living as an internet marketer. If you do not have the time to learn how to do this yourself you can outsource it but expect to spend quite a lot of money doing it.

The internet is absolutely full of information on how to optimise your website, you have to be careful as there is a lot of wrong information around as well so just take care and always check anything you read with other sources.

1. Exchanging Links

Some will tell you to carry out link exchanges with other sites, to do this you would place a link to the other site on your site then contact the site owner asking for a reciprocal link, if they do not respond or deny you a link you can remove the one you made to them. The problem with this is that many people believe that exchanged links are discounted by Google when ranking a page. That said, if you can get a link exchange from a site with higher page rank than you then it can be worthwhile to you.

2. Using articles and posting to directories.

If you write articles which are keyword rich and informative and send them to well ranked article directories, you can put a link to your site in the resource box of the article, this helps you to rank in Google but also if your article is informative you will also drive traffic who click onto your site to read more. If you are not very good at writing articles yourself you can outsource this work and there are many places on the internet where you can hire such writers, rates vary but expect to pay around $1.00 per 100 words.

3. Keyword in the domain name

Some people claim this makes no difference but it is easier to rank well if you have your keyword in the domain name.

4. Anchor links to your site

When linking from other peoples sites see if you can add a link with anchor text of the keyword that you are actually targeting, this is done by using a HTML anchor tag, type that into a search engine to see how to do it, it’s very simple.

That’s a few pointers to get you going with some basic search engine optimisation but there are many other methods for you to learn, the best thing to do is to start reading on some SEO forums.

Good luck.
